2017 Tuberculosis Recommendations for Elephants in Human Care

The EMA has been a participant and supporter of the Stakeholder’s Task Force on Management & Research Priorities of Tuberculosis in Elephants, whom had their most recent meeting in 2016 in Atlanta, GA.

The results of that meeting are now printed and a PDF is available of the 2017 Recommendations for the Diagnoses, Treatment and Management of Tuberculosis (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) In Elephants in Human Care.

These Recommendations are the outcome of many hours of work from veterinarians, public health officials, infectious disease specialists and elephant managers including many EMA members.  Feel free to share these with your staff and veterinarians.  These will also be distributed to state veterinarians and public health officials throughout the United States. Links to the recommendations can also be found on the IEF and AAZV websites.
